Anklam is a town in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany, on the Peene river about 8 kilometers from its mouth on the Szczecin Lagoon, with roughly 11,900 residents as of the end of 2024. Formerly known as Tanglim and Wendenburg, it was elevated to town status in 1244 and joined the Hanseatic League around the same period, and it was formerly the capital of the Ostvorpommern district before that district was merged in 2011.
