Cuxhaven is a port town in Lower Saxony, Germany, and seat of the Cuxhaven district, situated on the North Sea at the mouth of the Elbe River and including the northernmost point of Lower Saxony. It serves as a gateway to the nearby Heligoland islands and, with its quarters of Duhnen, Doese and Sahlenburg, is home to about 52,000 residents and a popular North Sea vacation spot.
