Eisenhüttenstadt is a town in the Oder-Spree district of Brandenburg, Germany, at the confluence of the Oder-Spree Canal and the Oder river on the border with Poland. It was founded as a planned socialist model city and steel-mill complex by East Germany in 1950, and was known as Stalinstadt in honor of Joseph Stalin from 1953 until 1961, when it took its present name during de-Stalinization.
