Hoyerswerda, also known by its Upper Sorbian name Wojerecy, is a major district town in the district of Bautzen in the German state of Saxony, within the Sorbian settlement area of Upper Lusatia where Upper Sorbian is spoken alongside German. It is divided into an Old Town, a historic center with many older buildings, and a more modern New Town, and its surrounding area of lakes, marshes and waterways draws cyclists and other visitors.
