Recklinghausen is the northernmost city in Germany's Ruhr area and the capital of the Recklinghausen district, bordering the rural Munsterland with large fields and farms to its north and industry to its south. It is the 60th largest city in Germany and the 22nd largest in North Rhine-Westphalia.
