Schüttorf is a town in the district of Grafschaft Bentheim in southwesternmost Lower Saxony, Germany, on the river Vechte near the Dutch border, with 13,562 inhabitants as of the end of 2024. Archaeological evidence points to settlement in the area by roughly 2000 BC, and Schüttorf received town rights on November 6, 1295, making it the district's oldest town. The town grew through textile manufacturing in the late 19th century, was damaged in the Second World War, and absorbed refugee populations in the postwar period.
