Aegitium, also called Aigition, was a town in Aetolia Epictetus, on the borders of Locris, situated among mountains about 80 stadia from the sea. During the Peloponnesian War the Athenian army under Demosthenes captured the town in 426 BCE, but its inhabitants escaped to the surrounding hills and continually harassed the Athenian force, eventually forcing its withdrawal.
