Aegys, also spelled Aigys, was a town on the frontier between ancient Arcadia and ancient Laconia in the Peloponnese, originally belonging to Arcadia before its conquest and annexation to Laconia under the Spartan king Charilaus. Its surrounding territory, known as Aegytis, contained several villages, and its inhabitants continued to be called Aegytae even after the founding of the city of Megalopolis in 371 BC.
