Amphanae

Amphanae, also spelled Amphanai, was the southernmost city on the east coast of the district of Pelasgiotis in ancient Thessaly, Greece, near the border with Achaea Phthiotis at the headland of Pyrrha. Its exact location remains uncertain, with proposed sites including Soros in the municipality of Volos, Damari, Paleo Alikes and the ancient ruins at Sesklou, though the editors of the Realencyclopadie der classischen Altertumswissenschaft favor the identification with Soros.
