Ancient Thera is an archaeological site from classical antiquity on the island of Santorini, sitting atop a limestone hill called Mesa Vouno. Friedrich Hiller von Gaertringen systematically excavated the city from 1895 to 1904, and later excavations by N. Zapheiropoulos between 1961 and 1982 uncovered the city's necropolis at Sellada, with finds from these digs displayed at the archaeological museum in Fira.
