Anthedon (Boeotia)

Anthedon was a town in Boeotia, in ancient Greece, on the coast of the Gulf of Euboea about 15 kilometers west of Chalcis, at the foot of Mount Messapius. It belonged to the Amphictyonic League and served as a port for Thebes. In antiquity it was believed to take its name from one of the mythical figures called Anthedon.
