Belemina, also called Belmina or Belbina, was a town on the border of ancient Laconia and ancient Arcadia, giving its name to the surrounding district of Belminatis. Originally an Arcadian town, it was conquered early by the Lacedaemonians and annexed to their territory, then restored to Arcadia after the Battle of Leuctra, when most of its people were resettled in the newly founded city of Megalopolis. Its district, the source of the river Eurotas, remained a point of contention between Sparta and the Achaean League and changed hands repeatedly under Machanidas, Nabis, and Philopoemen.
