Boium, also called Boion, was a town and polis of ancient Doris in Greece, one of the original towns of the Doric Tetrapolis. According to Andron of Halicarnassus its founders came from an earlier Doris in Thessaly, also called Histiaeotis. The historian Thucydides records that around 458 or 457 BC, during the First Peloponnesian War, the Phocians attacked Boium along with the towns of Erineus and Cytinium, and that Spartan forces under Nicomedes came to the Dorians defense and forced the Phocians to retreat.
