Gitanae, also recorded as Gitana or Gitona, was a city of ancient Epirus that Livy places near Corcyra, about ten miles from the coast, and names as a meeting place of the Epirote League. No other ancient writer mentions Gitanae, and some scholars have conjectured that the name is a corrupted form of Chyton, a place in Epirus that Ephorus said was colonized by Ionians from Klazomenai.
