Halasarna

Halasarna was a town of ancient Greece on the south coast of the island of Kos, near the modern town of Kardamaina, where excavations have continued since 1985. Archaeological finds range from the Neolithic and Bronze Age through the Hellenistic and Roman periods, and the site preserves the remains of a sanctuary of Apollo Halasarna, believed to have been the second most important sanctuary on the island after that of Asclepius. The settlement is thought to have been abandoned around the seventh century AD following an earthquake and fear of Arab invasions.
