Hippotae

Hippotae, also spelled Hippotai, was a polis of ancient Boeotia in Greece, independent at some point during the Archaic period. It sat on a plateau near Mount Helicon in southeastern Boeotia, between Thisbe and Coroneia, close to modern Agia Anna in the plain of Kourkoura, an area of roughly 45 square kilometers considered large enough to sustain a small city-state. Its territory was later divided between Thisbe and Coroneia.
