Limnaea (Acarnania)

Limnaea, also spelled Limnaia, was a city in ancient Acarnania at the southeastern corner of the Ambraciot Gulf, on the frontier between Acarnania and Aetolia, near the site of the modern town of Amphilochia. Thucydides places it on the road running from Ambracia and Argos Amphilochicum to Stratos, and Philip III of Macedon is recorded as having disembarked at Limnaea when about to invade Aetolia.
