Mycalessus, also spelled Mykalessos, was a town of ancient Boeotia in Greece, mentioned by Homer in the Catalogue of Ships in the Iliad. In 413 BCE a band of Thracian mercenaries being sent home by Athens landed near the Euripus and sacked the town, killing its inhabitants including women and children, an event the historian Thucydides described as one of the greatest calamities of the time.
