Pallantium (Arcadia)

Pallantium, also rendered Pallantion, Palantium or Palantion, was one of the most ancient towns of Arcadia, in the district of Maenalia, said to have been founded by Pallas, a son of Lycaon. It stood west of Tegea in a small plain called the Pallantic plain, separated from Tegea's own territory by a dyke. From this town Evander of Pallene was said to have led colonists to the banks of the river Tiber, and the Palatine Hill in Rome was reputed to take its name from it.
