Pharae was an ancient Greek town and polis in the region of Achaea, in what is now southern Greece, on the Peiros River about eleven kilometers from the sea and not far from the city of Patras. It was one of the twelve Achaean cities and one of the four major cities that led the restoration of the Achaean League in 280 BC, later coming under Roman control after Augustus annexed the region following the Battle of Actium.
