Phylace, or Phylake, was a town and polis of Phthiotis in ancient Thessaly, at a site identified with a low hill near modern Filaki, in the Almyros area of the Magnesia region, though no inscriptions confirm the identification. Founded, according to myth, by Phylacus, it was ruled in Homer's account by Protesilaus, said to be the first Greek killed in the Trojan War, and it held a temple dedicated to him. The site was occupied from the Neolithic period and abandoned by the Hellenistic period.
