Pindus (Doris)

Pindus, also called Acyphas or Akyphas, was an ancient city and polis of Greece, one of the four towns of the tetrapolis of Doris. It stood on a river of the same name that flows into the Cephissus near Lilaea. The geographer Strabo, the historian Theopompus, and the writer Stephanus of Byzantium called the city Akyphas, and Strabo places it above Erineus, in the upper part of the valley near the source of the river in the mountains.
