Prasiae

Prasiae was an ancient port town and Spartan naval base on the eastern coast of Laconia in Greece, near the modern town of Paralio Leonidi. The geographer Pausanias described it as the farthest of the Eleuthero-Laconian coastal towns, and during the Peloponnesian War it served as a Spartan harbor until Athenians burned it in 430 BC and raided the surrounding coast again in 414 BC with Argive allies. It passed under Argive control in the Hellenistic period before Augustus restored it to Laconia with the status of an Eleuthero-Laconian town, and its ruins included temples to Asclepius and Achilles.
