Singus

Singus, or Singos, was a town of Sithonia in the Chalcidice region of ancient Macedonia, on the gulf that took its name, the Singitic Gulf, about a mile east of modern Agios Nikolaos in Chalkidiki, Greece. Herodotus lists it among the cities near Mount Athos from which Xerxes drew troops for his invasion of Greece in 480 BCE, and it later paid tribute as a member of the Delian League. The Peace of Nicias of 421 BCE addressed its status relative to nearby Olynthus, and by the time Strabo wrote of it, Singus lay in ruins.
