Thalamae

Thalamae, or Thalamai, was a town of ancient Laconia that at various times belonged to Messenia, sited inland on the river Milea at what is now the village of Thalames, formerly Koutiphari. Greek myth credited its founding to Pelops, and it later became one of the Eleuthero-Laconian towns. The site held a temple and oracle of Ino, or Pasiphae, where those who slept in the temple were said to receive visions of the future; myth also held that Tyndareus settled there after fleeing his brother's rule in Messenia.
