Tithronium

Tithronium, also spelled Tithronion or Tethronium, was a frontier town of ancient Phocis on the border with Doris; Livy, calling it Tritonon, describes it as a town of Doris, though every other ancient writer assigns it to Phocis. The army of Xerxes I destroyed Tithronium along with the other towns of Phocis during the Greco-Persian Wars in 480 BC. Pausanias locates it on the plain fifteen stadia from Amphicleia.
