Dunaújváros is an industrial city with county rights in Fejér County, central Hungary, situated on the Danube about 70 kilometers south of Budapest. It is best known for its steelworks, the largest in the country, and was built in the 1950s on the site of the former village of Dunapentele. Originally named Sztálinváros, it took its current name in 1961; in the seventeenth century the settlement was called Rácpentele after the Serbs who inhabited it under Ottoman rule.
