Kapuvár is a small but ancient town in Győr-Moson-Sopron county, Hungary, with about 11,000 inhabitants, recorded as 10,458 in the 2009 census. The site was fortified as early as the 11th century and in the 16th century was an estate of the Nádasdy family. The town borders the Fertő-Hanság National Park, is known for thermal water believed to have therapeutic qualities, and its St. Ann's church maintains an ancient cemetery still in use today.
