Zamardi is a town in Somogy County, Hungary, about 113 kilometers northeast of Budapest, with 2,440 residents as of 2017 across 45.15 square kilometers. It is known for its beaches on Lake Balaton and for the Balaton Sound music festival, held there each summer since 2007, and it lies within the Balatonboglar wine region. Before Hungarian settlement in the tenth century the area was inhabited by the Avars, and a 1972 excavation uncovered a large Avar cemetery in the village. The pianist, conductor and composer Zoltan Kocsis was born in Zamardi.
