Borgarnes is a town on a peninsula on the shore of Borgarfjörður in western Iceland and the largest town in the Borgarbyggð municipality, with about 3,800 residents. It is a major road junction and the gateway to Snaefellsnes National Park, lying 69 kilometers from the capital Reykjavik, to which it is connected by Iceland's second-longest bridge, the Borgarfjarðarbrú.
