Cumae

Cumae was the first ancient Greek colony of Magna Graecia on the Italian mainland, founded by settlers from Euboea in the 8th century BC. It later became a wealthy Roman city, and its remains lie in and around the modern area of Cuma, divided between the municipalities of Pozzuoli and Bacoli in the Metropolitan City of Naples. Many finds from the site are held in the archaeological museum of the Phlegraean Fields in the nearby Aragonese Castle.
