Prato is a city and comune in the region of Tuscany, Italy, and the capital of the Province of Prato. It lies in the northeast of Tuscany, at an elevation of 65 meters, at the foot of Monte Retaia, about 15 to 17 kilometers from Florence. With a population of 198,327, Prato is Tuscany's second largest city after Florence and the eighteenth largest in Italy.
