Zilupe

Zilupe is a town in Ludza Municipality in the Latgale region of Latvia, on the Zilupe River at the border with Russia, with a population of 1,343 in 2020. Its railway station is the final stop on the Riga-Zilupe line, one of the longest passenger rail routes in Latvia; the town grew up around the station, originally named Rozenova, during construction of the Ventspils-Moscow railway line in 1900, and by 1908 it already had a police department, school and post office.
