Zejtun is a city in the Southern Region of Malta, in the South Eastern District, with a population of 12,783 as of July 2024. Historically known as Citta Beland, a title granted by a Knights Hospitaller grandmaster in 1797, its name comes from the Sicilian Arabic word for olive. The parish is among the oldest in Malta, dating to at least 1436, and the city grew from two historic urban cores, Bisqallin and Hal Bisbut, which still keep their medieval street patterns; it is also known as a hub of Maltese folk singing.
