Podgorica is the capital and largest city of Montenegro, at the confluence of the Ribnica and Morača rivers where the southern foothills of the Dinaric Alps meet the Zeta Plain. Renamed Titograd after the Second World War as capital of the Socialist Republic of Montenegro, it regained its original name in 1992 and became capital of independent Montenegro in 2006.
