Chodziez is a town in west-central Poland with 17,976 inhabitants as of December 2021, seat of Chodziez County in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, in the Chodziez lakelands, a postglacial landscape of lakes and forests nicknamed the Switzerland of Chodziez. First documented in 1403, it received Magdeburg town rights in 1434 from King Wladyslaw II Jagiello, developed as a weaving center and later for pottery and ceramics, suffered under Nazi occupation during the Second World War, and was liberated by Soviet forces in January 1945.
