Jastrowie

Jastrowie is a town in Zlotow County, Greater Poland Voivodeship, in northwestern Poland, on the edge of the Gwda River valley, covering an area of 72.27 square kilometers. It was first mentioned in 1363 and granted town rights in 1602; the settlement had been one of the southernmost centers of the Pomeranians before becoming part of Poland under Mieszko I in the 10th century. Population figures range from 8,900 in 1998 to 8,403 in 2006. During the Second World War the town held a forced labor subcamp and sat on the Pomeranian Wall defensive line before Polish troops captured it on 2 February 1945; today it is home to wood and bicycle factories and hosts the International Folk Festival Bukowinskie Spotkania.
