Lwowek Slaski

Lwowek Slaski is a town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of southwestern Poland, on the Bobr River about 30 kilometers north-northwest of Jelenia Gora, with a population of about 9,000. It is the administrative seat of Lwowek County and of the Gmina Lwowek Slaski municipality. Founded in the 13th century and granted town rights in 1217, a charter that became a model for other towns in southern Poland including Cieszyn and Oswiecim, it served as a local ducal seat of the Piast dynasty from 1281 to 1286, prospered from gold and silver mining, later became a center for cloth and linen making, and has been a brewing town since the 13th century, home to the Browar Lwowek brewery, said to be Poland's oldest company. It is also known as the Agate Capital of Poland and hosts the annual Lwowek Agate Summer, the country's largest mineralogical event, each July.
