Rzeszow is the largest city in southeastern Poland and capital of the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, on both banks of the Wislok River, with a December 2024 population of about 198,317. Granted town rights in 1354 by King Casimir III on a trade route linking Europe to the Ottoman Empire and the Middle East, it has become an economically dynamic center, ranked by Forbes in 2011 as Poland's second-most attractive semi-large city for business, and since Russia's 2022 invasion of Ukraine it has served as a critical logistics hub for military supplies moving into Ukraine.
