Skierniewice is a city in central Poland's Lodz Voivodeship, capital of Skierniewice County, with a population of 45,184 as of 31 December 2023 across 34.6 square kilometers. First documented in 1359 and granted municipal rights in 1457, it sits on the Warsaw-Vienna railway line roughly midway between Lodz and Warsaw, served as a residence of Poland's Roman Catholic Primates in the 17th and 18th centuries, and is known today as Poland's capital of horticultural science.
