Słubice

Słubice is a border town in the Lubusz Voivodeship of western Poland, capital of Słubice County and seat of Gmina Słubice, on the Oder River directly opposite Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany. The town proper had 16,705 inhabitants in 2019, while the combined Słubice-Frankfurt urban area has roughly 85,000 people. It formed part of Frankfurt (Oder) as its Dammvorstadt district until 1945, when the Oder-Neisse line made the river the German-Polish border, and its own settlement traces to a West Slavic community mentioned in Frankfurt's 1253 city charter. Słubice hosts the Collegium Polonicum, an extension of the Viadrina European University.
