Suwalki

Suwalki is a city in northeastern Poland and the capital of Suwalki County, with a population of about 69,206 in 2021, and it is one of the largest cities and economic and cultural centers of the northeast of the country. The city was established in 1690 and received formal city rights in 1720, growing into a commercial hub along historic trade routes. Suwalki lies near the Suwalki Gap, the narrow land corridor between Belarus and the Kaliningrad exclave of Russia that carries strategic significance for the wider Baltic region, and the city remains a commercial center and tourist gateway to nearby national parks and the border with Lithuania.
