Evora is a city in the Alentejo region of Portugal, built on the site of the Roman municipium of Ebora Liberalitas Julia, which was established after the Pax Romana under Octavian around 30 BC and first recorded in Pliny the Elder's Natural History. Roman remains include the Temple of Evora, popularly but incorrectly called the Temple of Diana, along with thermal baths and city walls built in the late third or early fourth century AD. The historic center of the modern city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
