Sempeter pri Gorici, also known simply as Sempeter, is a town and the administrative seat of the Municipality of Sempeter-Vrtojba in the Slovene Littoral region of Slovenia, with a border crossing into the Italian town of Gorizia. Its name, meaning St. Peter near Gorizia, reflects the town's long historical connection to Gorizia, now in Italy, and since 1947 it has grown together with the newly established Slovenian town of Nova Gorica into a continuous conurbation.
