Kalmar is a city in the southeast of Sweden, on the Baltic Sea coast in Kalmar County, with about 41,000 inhabitants as of 2020. It was one of the most significant cities in Sweden from the 13th through the 17th centuries, and Kalmar Castle stands at the center of the historic fortified layout of the city.
