Petinesca

Petinesca is an archaeological site in the community of Studen, in the Canton of Bern, Switzerland, preserving both a Celtic hillfort, or oppidum, and a fortified Roman-era village that served as a regional center from the second century BCE to the fourth century CE. It stood on a major Roman road linking Aventicum through Murten and Kerzers to Salodurum and Vindonissa, giving it a role safeguarding regional transport and communication. Secondary roads connected the settlement to the area around Witzwil, between Lake Neuchatel and Lake Murten.
