Ancaster (Roman town)

Ancaster was a small town in the Roman province of Britannia, sited on the Roman road known as Ermine Street in the county of Lincolnshire, England. The town Latin name is not certainly known: it has traditionally been identified with Causennis or Causennae from the Antonine Itinerary, though other scholars have proposed alternative identifications at Salters Ford or Sapperton, also in Lincolnshire.
