Stoke-on-Trent, often called Stoke, is a city and unitary authority area in Staffordshire, England. It had an estimated population of 259,965 in 2022, making it the largest settlement in Staffordshire and one of the largest cities of the Midlands. The city is polycentric, formed in 1910 from the federation of six towns, including Hanley, Burslem, Tunstall, Longton and Fenton. As the home of the pottery industry in England, the area is known as The Potteries.
