Moorland

Grasslands and Savannas

Moorland, or moor, is a habitat found in upland areas, characterised by low growing vegetation on acidic soils. The term today generally refers to uncultivated hill land, though it also covers some low lying wetlands. Moorland is closely related to heath, and experts disagree on the exact line between the two, but moor is generally used for highland, high rainfall areas while heath refers to lowland zones more often shaped by human activity.
