Muskeg

Grasslands and Savannas

Muskeg is a peat forming ecosystem found in several northern climates, most commonly across Arctic and boreal regions. It is approximately synonymous with bog or peatland, and is the standard term used in Canada and Alaska, where the word comes from the Cree maskek, meaning low lying marsh.
